17 cars were present for the series showdown at Penticton Speedway on Sat. Sept. 26th. The weather was perfect as the fastest 9 cars timed-in within 1.5 tenths
of each other. The 100 lap main would decide who was the series champion. Tom Garnett took the early lead until Darrell Midgley took it on lap 8 . On lap 10,
Geoff Morris moved to second, Cody Brown to third, Dave Hemrich to fourth, and Dave Key to fifth. On lap 34, an incident in the 1-2 corner forced Morris to
the pits with front-end damage, but his crew got him back out in time for the restart. At this point his brother Brent took the lead from Midgely, with
Berrow in third and Hemrich fourth. On lap 50 you could begin to see the moves Ken Jorgensen was making as he started to work his way to the front. On lap
82, Brent was still leading over Midgely, Geoff had moved up to third, Jorgensen to fourth, and Cody Brown was fifth. Brent held them off until the end for
the win over Midgely, Geoff Morris, Jorgensen, and Hemrich.
After the points were awarded for the night's action, the Series Championship was claimed by Ken Jorgensen with 554 points.

KATANA CHAMPIONSHIP ON THE LINE
The final race of the 2009 series will be run at Penticton Speedway on September 26. Please note that this is a change of venue from Vernon, B.C. on the same date.
The championship will be decided at this race, with the battle between #57 Ken Jorgensen, #72 Geoff Morris and #2 Tom Berrow. Ken goes into battle with 480
points, Geoff with 460 and Tom with 414. Realistically, Tom will need a "win-everything" night to have a chance, while Ken and Geoff have problems. Brent Morris
with 390 and Dave Hemrich with 352 are the other top 5 cars, but are probably too far back to have a chance at winning the championship. 42 cars have been
part of the series this year these guys have been battling hard all season, and it has come down to the final race. We wish them all the best. May the best
man win.
The South Okanagan Bakery Street Stocks will be the support show along with the Penticton Speedway Hobby Stocks, so it promises to be an action packed evening.
Thank you to all the racers who have made this a very interesting season, and to all the fans who have come out to support their favorite driver, it has been
our pleasure to bring you the 2009 season. See you at Penticton Speedway on September 26.

CANADA 200 HIGHLIGHTS
By: Pat Schepanowsky
A total of 26 cars competed in this years Canada 200 at Western Speedway. Fast time was set by #5 Korbin Thomas with a time of 16.787 seconds, setting a new
track record. Second fastest time was #57 Ken Jorgensen with 16.800 and then #16 Bart Smith with a time of 16.894. All three drivers broke the previous record
held by #6 Tim Christy. The race got off to a slow start, the first 25 laps took an hour to complete. On lap 25, #46 Mike Schott stalled on the back straight,
with #58 Bob Kuhn actually driving right over the top of Schott's car. It looked like local driver #16 Bart Smith was going to run away with the race, leading
over 50 laps, but then he blew a tranny on lap 100, sending Smith to the pits for the night. A scheduled fuel stop followed to allow the cars to refuel. On
the restart #57 Jorgensen took the lead, but was challenged by #52 Geoff Morris lap 106. Two laps later the final yellow flag came out, Jorgensen took back
the lead on the restart and never gave it up. At the checkered flag, only two cars remained on the lead lap winner #57 Ken Jorgensen and #5 Korbin Thomas. The
top five in points for the night were #57 Ken Jorgensen with 89 points; second Korbin Thomas with 87 points; third #21 Jason Tarasenko with 74 points; fourth #2

PENTICTON RACE SUMMARY
Submitted and Written By "Superbrush" Dave Balkwill:
Hot weather and a slick track greeted the Racers on Saturday. 20 cars timed in with the Top 5 being: #99 @ 14.37, #33 @ 14.56, #2 @ 14.56, # 52 @ 14.6, and #29
@ 14.68. Heat Race wins went to #96 & #19.
As the Main got underway, #36 took the early lead. Lap 10 saw #33 & #57 get tangled up in turn 3, sending both to the pits. Hemrich's crew went to
work and got Dave back on for the restart. Jorgensen's car could not be repaired so he was done for the night. #52 Geoff Morris went to the lead and
was unstopable. 16 cars were running on lap 55 with several down laps to the leader. Geoff Morris appeared to have enough time to lap the entire field,
but a yellow with 10 laps to go saved the #36 car and the #33 from being lapped. The finish was #52, #33, #36, #2, #29, #15, #46, #58, #32, and #30;
your top 10.
The win boosted Geoff Morris to the points lead after Saturday Night with Jorgensen now Second and Brent Morris Third.

FOR CONSIDERATION AND COMMENTS FROM ALL SPORTSMAN DRIVERS
We are very close to having one set of rules that encompasses all of the sportsman cars in BC. This has been a long process that started, in my
opinion, with the Sportsman Invitational race at Penticton Speedway in 1999. There have been many changes and numerous people involved that have
positioned the Sportsman class at its current level.

KATANA THUNDER MOUNTAIN RACE REPORT
By Superbrush Dave
We left Langley knowing there was a 30% chance of rain at Williams Lake, but we hoped for better. We pulled into the track at 2:15 and the weather was just as
we feared. The drizzle started shortly thereafter, but using the backup classes to dry the track allowed the Sportsman cars to squeeze in one hot lap session.
It still was debatable as to whether or not we would get the 100 lap main in as scheduled. The steady off and on rain kept the track moist, but running the
support classes helped to get the track half raceable. The South Okanagan Bakery Street Stocks ran their main event which dried the track well enough to put
the Sportaman Main on the track. It was a nice first win for Donnie Krickemeyer in his new truck after patiently working his way to the top two and taking the
win when the #7 car failed to pass post-race tech.
Fourteen cars started the Sportsman Main, lined up by points from the opening season race at Agassiz, due to qualifying being rained out. The field was
inverted with the 51 car choosing to start at the rear, so points leader Ken Jorgensen had his work cut out for him. An early incident between Tom Berrow
and Dave Hemrich in turn one took them both out of contention for the win. Ken finally took the lead and the Morris brothers made their way to 2nd and 3rd
in the 52 and 29 cars. The brothers dueled while keeping Ken in their sights, and Brent passed his bro to take 2nd place and set his sights on the 57 car.
He passed Ken in traffic with a nice move on lap 73. Ken was patient and was able to retake the lead on lap 85. Kalvin Loudoun was able to pass Geoff Morris
to claim 3rd place and Geoff was fourth. All in all it was a clean race. Everyone in the pits were saying I can't believe we got this one in. Thanks
everyone for the great show and we'll see you at Saratoga Speedway on the 25th of July for round three of the series.
